Extension Privacy Policy

Short version: The AskMyTuto extension does not collect, store, or share any personal data. It reads only the YouTube URL of your active tab — solely to open that video inside the AskMyTuto app.

1. What the Extension Does

The AskMyTuto browser extension adds a button to YouTube video pages. When you click it, the extension reads the current tab's URL and opens the AskMyTuto web app with that video pre-loaded, so you can start an AI-assisted learning session immediately.

2. Permissions We Request

The extension requests the following browser permissions:

activeTab scripting host: youtube.com

activeTab — reads the URL of the tab you are currently viewing. Only triggered when you click the extension button; never runs in the background.
scripting — injects the "Open in AskMyTuto" button into the YouTube player interface.
host: youtube.com — limits the extension to only activate on YouTube pages. It has no access to any other website.

3. Data Collected

The extension collects no personal data. The only value the extension reads is the YouTube video URL of your current tab. This URL is:

Not stored locally or in any database.
Not transmitted to AskMyTuto servers directly by the extension. It is passed as a URL parameter when your browser opens the AskMyTuto app — the same as if you had copied and pasted the URL yourself.
Not shared with any third party.

4. No Tracking, Analytics, or Telemetry

The extension contains no analytics, crash-reporting, telemetry, or advertising code. It does not track which videos you watch, how long you watch them, or any other browsing behaviour.

5. Data Handled by the AskMyTuto Web App

Once you are inside the AskMyTuto web application, the app's own Privacy Policy applies. The extension itself has no involvement in how the app processes video transcripts or your questions.

6. Third-Party Services

The extension does not load, embed, or communicate with any third-party service. No Google Analytics, Firebase, Sentry, or similar SDKs are bundled.

7. Updates to This Policy

If the extension's permissions or data practices change in a future version, this page will be updated and the "Last updated" date above will reflect that change.
